Press releaseDoXa kicks off at the Cap Digital competitiveness cluster: PERTIMM chosen as the search engine!
Asnières sur Seine, March 5, 2009
The objective of this ambitious project: design a solution for automatically understanding and interpreting subjective data such as opinions and sentiments 1
Pertimm, a French SME and expert in designing search engines, has reaffirmed its involvement in research & development by joining the DoXa project, launched in January 2009 for a period of 3 years, alongside such companies as Thales and EDF.
DoXa, a project at the cutting edge of innovation!
DoXa, a research and development project at the Ile de France "Cap Digital" competitiveness cluster, aims to set up a platform of technologies related to automated processing of sentiments and opinions in sets of multilingual data (French and English). The sets processed include large volumes of data that are both unstructured (from the Web 2.0: blogs, forums, social networks, etc.) and structured (from client databases).
The project, coordinated by Thales, brings together 11 partners from the industrial (EDF, Arisem, etc.), academic (Lip6, Limsi/CNRS, IGM etc.) and SME (Pertimm, ILObjets etc.) worlds, and is divided into 8 sub-projects.
Pertimm, a French SME with 20 employees, is responsible for sub-project 4, which entails searching for opinions and sentiments in the DoXa's data set.
DoXa is a follow-up to the work carried out in the framework of the INFOM@GIC project, taking the next step in information extraction. The components, resources and processing chains developed within the project will, among other results, make it possible to:
- Automatically detect and extract the subjects addressed in large volumes of multilingual text
- Automatically detect and extract the sentiments and opinions expressed
- Map the sentiments and opinions expressed to the subjects those sentiments and opinions address
Project completion by 2012
The results of the research and advances made by the DoXa project will eventually help project partners EDF, Meetic and OpinionWay to better understand the needs and requests of consumers and/or end users. New services and products that are more in line with consumers' expectations may then be developed and offered.
