Paris, May 20, 2008 - PagesJaunes’ new and free¹ SMS inquiry service uses technology by Pertimm, French publisher of search engine solutions.

Thanks to this new inquiry service, a business or private telephone number can be requested and obtained via simple SMS. Search modalities have been optimized for facility of use and to guarantee that results are relevant. The search can focus on profession, number or name. Pertimm’s search engine can also identify and recognize abbreviations, such as those used for regions, street names, certain activities or writing code. Words of the search can appear in any order.

If they want to narrow their search down to a place, users just need to indicate the town, region, postcode, or full address, with or without the street number. Searches for the most well known brands, shop names and organizations can also cover the whole of France, without giving a place name. As for the rest, it’s no different than sending an ordinary SMS.

So, to get the address of a bakery in Paris’ 6th district, all it takes is to enter "Boulanger Paris 6" in the body of the SMS and to send it to 32008. A few seconds later, the user gets an SMS with an answer. If the answer isn’t what the user is looking for, the user can get a second one, then a third, and so on, each time for the price of an SMS.
