Large volumes of information about science and high technology
The Sophia Antipolis Foundation, created in 1984 as a government-recognized public interest foundation, performs a crucial task for the Sophia Antipolis science and technology park, organizing scientific and cultural events. Its objective is to facilitate forward-looking discussion and deliberation on a national, European and worldwide basis, in the fields of science, industry and culture.
The Sophia Antipolis Foundation’s website provides access to a rich collection of information related to innovation, science and high-tech, organized into several subsites: competitiveness clusters, international clusters, "Science in Sophia", "Curious About Science", etc.
Pertimm’s multi-lingual semantic search engine capitalizes on the site’s rich content
In June 2009, the Foundation chose to respond to constant growth in both site visits and indexed content by calling upon Pertimm's information processing expertise. Their main objective was to design a simple, effective search engine for the French and English versions of the site.
"The Sophia Antipolis Foundation selected Pertimm because of its experience and its successes with other strategic projects."
"Their willingness to listen, their understanding of our needs and the rapid implementation of the search system succeeded in convincing us. We know we made the right choice."
- explained Mélissa Musson, webmaster of the Sophia Antipolis website.
In late June 2009, Pertimm completed implementation of a semantic search engine tailored to the specific needs of Sophia Antipolis. It has been online for the entire portal since July 1, 2009.
It provides :
- Relevant responses to queries in French as well as in English.
- Natural language searching, where a user’s query can contain many terms.
- Quick responses when searching thousands of documents thanks to Pertimm's unique technological expertise.
- Automatic generation of document summaries for the search results containing the search term(s), the file format (PDF, HTML, etc.), file size and the date it was put online.
- A results display highlighting the terms corresponding to the query, variant forms or even synonyms, helping the user understand how Pertimm found a relevant document.
